Cannington vs Timberscombe 28th June 2008
Cannington elected to bat upon winning the toss. After the fall of
early wickets there innings was put together skillfully by the batting
of D Rich (64) and brutally by the hitting of W Pither (90).
Timberscombe were yet again left to regret drop catches and missed
chances, as the home side put together a competitive total of 220 for 9
at the close of their innings. Rob Golding again performed well with
the ball taking 5 wickets for 42.
At 31 for 3 Timberscombe’s chase looked to be all but over until the
two Pauls, Keal and Sparks once again carried the innings forward.
After a partnership of 109 Keal (66) was removed. With the next wicket
falling to the very next ball the remaining runs required looked a
steep mountain to climb. So it proved. With Sparks carrying his bat for
76 and a late flurry from 14 year old Tom Sparks the innings finally
fell 23 runs short.
