Timberscombe vs Woolhampton 29th June 2008
On Sunday 29th JulyTimbuck entertained touring side Woolhampton and ended up being comprehensively beaten by 92 runs. P Howe (31) and M Smith (73) got the tourists off to a great start. It could have been so different if the dozing Buchanan had not dropped Smith when he was still in single figures. C Simmons crawled out of his sleeping bag to score a quick 46 not out to post an unlikely 256 for victory .
Set an imposing 255 off 40 overs, Timbuck started well with Nick Hill and Alan Evans both getting into the 30’s before both falling to Porter. The reliable run machine of Jason Abbott for once failed to trouble the scorers and with his dismissal ended Timberscombes slim hope of victory. In form Dave Cook hit a steady 21 not out and Matt Stonier stroked a fine 30 including a glorious on drive but with ducks from Summersgill and Buchanan Timberscombe limped to 163 all out.
