Timberscombe v Bagborough June 20 2009

Bagborough outperformed Timberscombe in all departments to run out
comfortable winners.

Electing to bat, Timberscombe appeared to have made the right choice
as they moved to 100 for the loss of just one wicket. The departure of
captain Paul Sparks on 30 was followed by a woeful display of poor shot
selection and impatient batting. Opener Bruce Lang was fast running out
of partners before finally departing himself on a hard fought 51. Only
the free flowing of the tail end bats allowed Timberscombe to reach
anything like a competitive score. With Will Giblett flashing his way
to 41 no the innings closed on 179 for 9. On the wichet and outfield
prepared this looked twenty or thirty runs short of par.

So it was to prove as, despite the loss of early wickets, Bagborough
carefully and sensibly went about chasing their target. Having seeing
off the opening bowlers, S Collins and Olly Barrett set about the
change bowlers  as they increased the pace of scoring and saw out the
innings, passing the home side’s total with just over three overs to
spare. Collins and Barrett ended both not out on 93 and 43
respectively.

Timberscombe 179 for 9
Bruce Lang 51
Will Giblett 41 no
Paul Sparks 30
King 56 for 4

Bagborough 182 for 4
S Collins 93 no
O Barrett 45 no
Will Giblett 43 for 3

Bagborough 25 Points beat Timberscombe 7 Points by 6 Wkts
