Timberscombe v Stogumber June 27 2009
A tense finish saw Timberscombe hold their nerve and hang on to win by
13 runs in this low scoring match.
Asked to bat, Timberscombe lost an early wicket buyt thenĀ moved
carefully on to 111. Bruce Lang (43) and Paul Sparks (39) were the
batsmen who picked their shots and waited for rare bad balls to make
some headway. A late tumble of wickets in the last 8 overs left them
having posted a handy total of 143 for 7.
Stogumber’s reply rarely looked like gaining any real momentum. Opener
A Hayes batted steadily for his 26 and a mid order flourish of 27 by N
Bennet put Stogumber in with a chance. However, a combination of good
bowling and the taking of key catches left the visitors 13 runs short
as the last wicket fell with Harry Elliott catching his older brother
James to finish the innings.
